Bonsai Juniperus

Juniperus procumbens is a low-growing shrubby juniper native to the southern Japan. Its status as a wild plant is disputed; some authorities treat it as endemic on high mountains on Kyūshū and a few other islands off southern Japan, while others consider it native to the coasts of southern Japan (north to Chiba Prefecture) and also the southern and western coasts of Korea. It is closely related to Juniperus chinensis, and is sometimes treated as a variety of it, as J. chinensis var. procumbens.

Bonsai is an Asian art form using cultivation techniques to produce small trees in containers that mimic the shape and scale of full size trees. Similar practices exist in East Asian cultures, including the Chinese tradition of pensai from which the Japanese version Bonsai originated. The Japanese tradition dates back over a thousand years. The Japanese loanword “bonsai” has become an umbrella term in English, attached to many forms of potted or other plants, and also on occasion to other living and non-living things.

A bonsai tree is a symbol of patience, tolerance and diligence. The particularity of our bonsais is that it is almost impossible to create two identical trees, as each of them is a unique handmade craftsmanship, and the unique and irregular shape of their vineyards also makes each piece unique.
